Statistics for analyzing and modeling precipitation isotope ratios in IsoMAP

چکیده
The IsoMAP uses the multiple linear regression and geostatistical methods to analyze isotope data. Suppose the response variable Y (s) and the vector of independent variable x(s) are observed at a finite number of sites s1, · · · , sn. The multiple linear regression method assumes Y (s) and Y (s′) are independent but the geostatistical method assume they are not. In the following, we will first present the statistical methodology and then provide a real example to numerical interpret it.

The stable hydrogen (delta(2)H) and oxygen (delta(18)O) isotope ratios of organic and inorganic materials record biological and physical processes through the effects of substrate isotopic composition and fractionations that occur as reactions proceed. At large scales, these processes can exhibit spatial predictability because of the effects of coherent climatic patterns over the Earth's surfac...

Understanding the responses of riparian trees to water availability is critical for predicting the effects of changes in precipitation on riparian ecosystems. Dioecious Acer negundo L. (box elder) is a common riparian tree that is highly sensitive to water stress. Earlier studies indicated that the genders of A. negundo respond differently to water availability, with males being more conservati...

Surface and groundwater resources such as Arnaveh karstic spring and Shirin Dareh reservoir are the main sources of drinking water and agricultural activity in the North Khorasan province, northeast of Iran. The main agents of this study are to evaluate the origin, hydrochemical and isotope characteristics of water resources and also suitability of the Shirin dareh reservoir water for drinking ...

Stable isotopes (Deuterium and Oxygen-18) have a broad application in many of water related sciences. Precipitation is the most important input to the water cycle which shows considrable spatial and temporal variability in its isotope content. To study the precipitation isotope content, 51 samples from August 2015 to July 2016 have been collected mainly on a monthly basis with few events based ...

[1] The stable H and O isotope composition of river and stream water records information on runoff sources and land‐atmosphere water fluxes within the catchment and is a potentially powerful tool for network‐based monitoring of ecohydrological systems. Process‐based hydrological models, however, have thus far shown limited power to replicate observed large‐scale variation in U.S. surface water ...
